2. What materials do Hopeless Romantic Society pieces use?

Our jewellery is crafted from premium stainless-steel or brass with luxurious gold- and silver-plating, depending on the style. Every style is finished to the highest standards to keep the glow of your non-boring, statement jewellery intact for you to wear and love.

3. Are your products hypoallergenic and nickel-free?

Yes. All ear-posts and chains that touch skin are free from nickel which is a common source of contact dermatitis. We make many of our pieces from materials with high biocompatibility—meaning that they are safe to be in contact with your skin without causing allergy or irritation. Our gold- and silver-plating exceeds EU nickel-release limits, reducing irritation for sensitive romantics. Styles which have elements made from non-hypoallergenic materials are marked out on the product page. Remember, “hypoallergenic” lowers (but never fully removes) allergy risk, so patch-test if you have severe reactions. Don't hesitate to drop us a message in the chat if you have any concerns!

4. Will imitation jewellery tarnish or fade?

Even the best-plated costume jewellery can dull over time when exposed to air, water and cosmetics. We add an anti-tarnish top-coat, but proper care (see Q4) dramatically extends the life of your sparkle.

5. How do I clean and care for my fashion jewellery?

• After wearing: Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth—no harsh chemicals.
• Weekly: Wipe with a damp cloth using warm water. A soft toothbrush can be used for crevices (avoid soaking). For heavier soiling a mild soap be added to the water. Wipe dry and ensure all soap is removed.
• Storage: Keep pieces in a jewellery box, away from humidity; silica or anti-tarnish strips help too.
• Tip: Apply perfume, lotion or hairspray before you put on your jewellery to prevent plating wear.

6. Can I shower or swim in my jewellery?

Plated costume jewellery should be removed before swimming, showering or sauna sessions to avoid metal oxidation and loosening of the stones. Quick hand-washing is fine—just dry thoroughly, following the advice in Question 4 above.

7. What ring or necklace size should I choose?

Our size chart converts UK, EU and US ring measurements and shows chain drop lengths on real models. If you’re between sizes, order the larger and add our complimentary sizing beads.

8. Do you offer gift wrapping and handwritten notes?

Absolutely. Select the gift wrap option at checkout for a romantic surprise—at no extra charge.

9. Where do you ship and how long does delivery take?

We deliver to anywhere in the UK from our London studio. We target to dispatch your order within one business day of receiving it, although on occasion this may slip to two days. We offer two shipping options, express (1-2 working days) and standard (2-3 working days).

10. What are the shipping costs?

UK orders over £50 qualify for free express delivery. Below that, standard shipping costs £4.99 per order and express shipping costs £6.99 per order.

11. What is your returns & exchanges policy?

Change of heart? Send unworn pieces back within 30 days for a refund or exchange—no fee, return shipping on us (UK). Custom-engraved items are final sale. For hygiene reasons, we cannot accept returns of pierced earrings or other pierced jewellery unless faulty.

12. Which payment methods do you accept?

Visa, MasterCard, AmEx, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay are all processed with industry standard security for total peace of mind.

13. Do you provide a warranty?

Yes. Every piece carries a 6-month warranty covering plating or clasp faults.
